A lot of people find it an extra chore to make the bed. It so easy to just leave it there as it is, after all it will just get jumbled again when you use it the following night. However, a badly made bed actually affects the beauty and feel of your bedroom. A bed that is made properly looks more relaxing and inviting plus it also makes your room look more beautiful no matter how simple your décor may be.

If you find making the bed a heavy task, here is a simple guide to help you make it properly without even breaking a sweat.

Collect the Linens You Need

The type of linens you need depends on your preferences. For instance, if you love a dressed-up bed, adding a bed skirt is well suited to your style. You could also opt for plain linen sheets if you want a neat and minimalist look on your bed. Be sure that the sheets and pillowcases look good together when combined to achieve a harmonious look on your bed.

Take Away the Used Linens

Once you have fresh linens ready, it is time to remove those used linen sheets. Prepare them for laundry and just shake off those sheets that don’t need to be washed such as the pillow protectors, mattress pads, and others. This removes the loose dust from the fabrics so they will feel clean even without washing.

Place the Bottom Sheets

The first thing you put on when making a bed is the bottom sheet. This is the layer placed after the mattress protector and mattress pad. The bottom sheet helps protect the mattress from dirt and keeps the mattress pad in place. You need to have a snug fit bottom sheet so that it wraps around the mattress perfectly without slipping out while you lay down on the bed.

Add the Top Sheet

After placing the bottom sheet, the next thing you need to add is a top sheet. Place it evenly on the bed and tuck the bottom corners snugly and leaving the sides loose so you can easily get in and out of the bed. You could opt to fold down the upper part of the top sheet to add more style and layered look to your bed. If it is a rarely used bed such as a guest bed, you could tuck the sides completely for a neat looking bed.

Add a Bed Spread on Top

After setting the sheets, it is time to spread your favourite blanket, duvet, or comforter on top of the bed. You could fold over the top sheet on the blanket for a neat look but you could also opt to spread it loosely for a more relaxed style.

Arrange the Pillows

Lastly, arrange the pillows on the top part of the bed. Place the pillows against the headboard and it is all up to your which arrangement you like; if you want to stack the pillows like pancakes or just lay them in front of one another. Be sure to place the biggest pillows behind and the smallest at the front.

It’s so easy to make the bed. With this simple guide, your bed would look arranged in just a matter of minutes.
